About

Nick Bashford was born and raised in Loveland, where he attended Truscott, Bill Reed, and Loveland High School. In 2014, he and his wife moved to Johnstown with their three daughters, two of whom graduated from the former Roosevelt High School and worked locally at Letford. Nick's roots here run deeper than that move: members of his mother's family have been laid to rest in Elwell Cemetery since the early 1900s, so Johnstown is part of his family history as well as his home.

Nick started his career in retail, manufacturing, and security before finding his long-term home in technology. Over more than 20 years he has worked his way up from the helpdesk to system administrator, and he now works as an infrastructure engineer, a career built on problem-solving, accountability, and managing complex systems responsibly.

After interviewing for a council vacancy in 2017, Nick was elected to the Town Council in April 2026 for a four-year term. He also represents Johnstown on the North Front Range MPO Planning Council. He cares most about careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars, growth that pays its own way while keeping Johnstown's small-town character, and supporting local businesses and the downtown core.

Nick welcomes questions at nbashford@johnstownco.gov.

Ask about agenda items, ordinances, resolutions, or how a decision was made.

Sharing your perspective

Share input on issues before the Council. Public comment is also welcome at Council meetings.

Finding the right contact

For service requests (utilities, streets, code issues), I can help point you to the appropriate Town department.

Regional transportation

Questions or input on regional transportation planning through the NFRMPO.

Note: Messages sent to an individual Council member may be subject to the Colorado Open Records Act. For emergencies, call 911.

Meetings

Regular Town Council meetings are generally held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted (per the Town's website). Always confirm the current schedule on the official Town pages.

NFRMPO role

The North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization coordinates regional transportation planning and federal transportation funding for communities in the northern Front Range. As Johnstown's representative on the Planning Council, I participate in regional decisions affecting roads, transit, and mobility.

I serve as the Town of Johnstown's representative and voting member on the NFRMPO Planning Council. Each member government chooses one elected official for the Council; each member has one equal vote.
